Mestic Cool Boxes for Camping, Caravans & Motorhomes

Thermoelectric cool boxes are ideal for day trips and milder conditions. They typically cool to around 20–25 °C below the ambient temperature – perfect for keeping drinks and snacks nicely chilled while you’re on the move.

Compressor cool boxes work more like a small fridge or freezer. They can cool and freeze independently of the outside temperature, often between about -18 °C and +10 °C. Choose a compressor model if you camp in hotter climates or want to safely store fresh food for several days at a time.

Most Mestic cool boxes run on 12 V in your car, campervan or motorhome, and many also include a 230 V mains connection for use on hook-up or at home. Dual-power models give you the most flexibility – cool on the drive, then plug straight into the campsite supply when you arrive.

If you mainly use your cooler on days out, a 12 V-only model is usually sufficient. For longer stays on campsites or in awnings, a 12 V / 230 V compressor box offers more stable, fridge-like performance.

The litre size gives a good indication of how many people the cool box will comfortably support. Smaller models around 18–25 L are great for one or two people or short weekend breaks.

Larger cool boxes around 25–35 L suit families, longer holidays or anyone who likes to stock up once and stay put. Remember to allow space for ice packs or air circulation around your food for the best results.

If you move your cooler in and out of the car frequently, look for lighter models with sturdy handles. These are easier to lift and store, and work well for picnics, festivals and beach days.

For use inside a caravan or motorhome, quieter running can be more important – especially if you sleep nearby. A dedicated cool box stand can also raise the unit to a comfortable height and improve airflow all around the cabinet.
